Hello world, here’s my latest.  We’re on vacation up in Waupaca County, Wisconsin and I’ve been out and about.  My son and I were driving in the countryside when we passed a large field of sunflowers.  I suppose at some point every oil painter has to try his hand at sunflowers, and this is my attempt.  There’s something primordial and unsettling about sunflowers which is why, I suppose, they’ve always been a popular subject.

Nice sunflowers, Robert. I agree–as flowers go, and as nice as they are, sunflowers have a sort of grotesque quality.

They’re pre-historic. The Lily falls in the same category. And a number of prairie flowers. Joe and I waded into this sea of Sunflowers and it was like time travel.
