Here’s my latest — it depicts the Lapin Agile (“nimble rabbit”), a cabaret in Paris that was frequented by early-twentieth-century intelligentsia and artists, most famously Pablo Picasso and Amedeo Modigliani.  I painted this from a very nicely composed photo taken by my friend Laura, who visited the cabaret recently.

A fictional Lapin Agile is the setting for a 1993 stage play written by Steve Martin, Picasso at the Lapin Agile.  There is a famous 1904 Picasso painting entitled Au Lapin Agile, depicting several of the cabaret’s patrons.

This was a lot of fun to paint.  Thanks, Laura!
