Here’s my most recent attempt to emulate Georges Rouault, one of my favorite 20th Century painters.   A contemporary of Henri Matisse, these days Rouault is somewhat overlooked by critics and the public alike.  He’s probably the greatest painter of religious themes since the advent of Impressionism.  I’ve seen a few of his works in museums and they are spectacular.  Rouault is very popular, and avidly collected, in Japan.
